Scripture Reference:
Isaiah 42:1 "He shall bring justice to nations." is a quote from the prophet Isaiah, who lived approximately 2,600 years ago. Isaiah was declaring to his people that the Messiah would come and would restore all nations to a position of justice. The three aspects of justice referred to by Isaiah, justice, mercy and faithfulness, indicate that God is interested in reconciling peoples with himself and with each other, healing and restoration of each nation and each person. The aspects of justice referred to are qualities or attributes of the Messiah which make him uniquely equipped to rule and restore the nations. This citation is made because the image of the Messiah coming brings hope and vision intended for all the world.
The word Messiah is the word used in the Law of Moses and referred to by the prophets as the one who would come directly from God to establish the kingdom of God on the earth. The Messiah was promised by god through the law and the prophets beginning some ten thousand years ago. Throughout the world, people are encouraged by this hope.
